HAZE of Youth

Exhibition series (2 volumes), NVRLND. Boutique, Calgary, 2021
Co-created with Sam Mendoza

Overview
HAZE of Youth is a two-volume exhibition series that uses functional objects as a delivery system for mood, humour, and lived reality. It treats domestic formats as cultural evidence and asks what “art” looks like when the world is reduced to survival, distance, and performance.

VOL. 2 — TAKE OUT

Pryde curated and co-hosted Take Out, an experiential gallery show that transformed the space into a cafeteria where artworks were ordered to-go. Built in direct response to 2021’s curbside life, it framed consumption with limited touch and even less conversation: pickup culture, in-and-out rituals, and the quiet choreography of keeping distance.

VOL. 1 — A RECOLLECTION

Steeped in Alice in Wonderland references, A Recollection brought Pryde and Mendoza together to resurrect ideas they were once too naïve to complete. The work wasn’t made to behave. It was made to finish the strange threads that wouldn’t let go.

Formats included: functional wares, ceramics, tufted works, and soft goods.
